Welcoming Councillor Taylor to Sandwell Carers Service

Last week, Sandwell Carers Service was delighted to welcome Councillor Taylor to discuss how the Service is working to support unpaid Carers across Sandwell.

Councillor Jackie Taylor is a Sandwell Council Cabinet Member, responsible for Adult Services, Health, and Wellbeing. Her visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the realities of Caring, and the importance of support that is compassionate, patient, and built on trust.

During the visit, Councillor Taylor saw how Sandwell Carers Service works alongside Carers to ensure their lived experience shape the support they receive. This reflects the Service’s commitment to making support accessible and inclusive, recognising that Carers come from all backgrounds, cultures and communities.

Reflecting on the day, Project Manager Sachyar Mughal said:

“We really appreciated Councillor Taylor taking the time to visit and learn more about Sandwell Carers Service. It was a positive and encouraging conversation that recognised both the challenges Carers face and the impact that compassionate, person-centred support can have. Visits like this help strengthen understanding and reinforce the importance of valuing Carers across Sandwell.”

Sandwell Carers Service continues to go from strength to strength, delivering triages, wellbeing appointments and timely referrals so that Carers are connected to the most appropriate support for their needs. This approach helps ensure Carers feel supported at the right time, with the right level of help.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share the Service’s work and to continue raising awareness of unpaid Carers. Through partnership, listening and inclusion, we can help Carers across Sandwell to feel recognised, supported and empowered.
