Forward Carers to Lead New Carer Support Service in Sandwell

Building on trusted delivery across the Black Country and Birmingham.
Forward Carers is proud to announce our appointment to lead the new Sandwell Carers Service, launching 1st September 2025. This milestone builds on our proven track record delivering impactful Carer support across the West Midlands, including in Walsall, Dudley and through our long-established and award-winning service in Birmingham.
The Sandwell Carers Service will be delivered in partnership with highly respected local organisations, ensuring borough-wide access for Carers in all six towns – Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury, and West Bromwich.
We’re proud to be working alongside trusted local organisations to deliver this vital service:
- Age Concern Birmingham, leading on the Carers Hub support and information service
- Age UK Birmingham and Sandwell, delivering inclusive community-based activities and outreach
- Midland Mencap, providing specialist support to Parent Carers
- St Albans Community Association, providing a welcoming weekly drop-in for Carers to access guidance and peer support

We are also committed to building strong relationships with local grassroots and cultural organisations who are at the heart of Sandwell’s diverse communities. We’re already establishing connections with the African Caribbean Community Centre, Murray Hall Community Trust, and many more respected partners to ensure the service reflects the lived experiences of Carers from all backgrounds.
Chantell Marler, Programme Director at Forward Carers, said:
“We are thrilled to bring our experience and passion for Carer support to Sandwell. Our priority is making sure every Carer feels seen, supported, and connected – no matter where they live or what their caring role looks like. Working with such well-regarded local partners means Carers can access trusted support in their own community.”
The new Sandwell Carers Service will offer:
- Free Wellbeing Checks and tailored Action Plans
- Peer support groups and wellbeing activities
- Emergency Planning guidance, including our Carer Friendly Photo ID Card
- Easy online registration and digital support for those who prefer flexible access
A new Sandwell Carers Hub website and helpline will go live, and a borough-wide awareness campaign will ensure all Carers know where to turn for support.
