SUMMARY:Liver Health Checks West Bromwich
DESCRIPTION:Monday 23rd March\, 9am – 2:30pm at the Lyng Health Centre \nThe Community Liver Health Checks (CLHC) pilot programme is currently running across the West Midlands\, aimed at identifying people at higher risk of liver disease and liver cancer. \nThis programme supports the NHS Long Term Plan ambition to diagnose cancers earlier and focuses on prevention\, early detection\, and reducing health inequalities. \nAs part of this work\, they use a mobile liver health bus equipped to provide FibroScan assessments and related checks for eligible adults in the community. These checks are non-invasive and help identify early liver damage so that people can be referred for appropriate follow-up and surveillance where needed. \nEligibility Criteria: \n\nAdults aged 18-75 with alcohol consumption greater than 14 units per week\nAdults aged 18-75 with a history of Hepatitis B or C\nAdults aged over 50 with MASLD (fatty liver disease)\nAdults aged over 50 with Type II diabetes and a BMI over 30 (or over 27\, depending on ethnicity)\n\nJust turn up\, no appointment needed! Please see and share attached ‘Lyng health centre’ and ‘Liver Health Checks Lyng’. \nThe liver bus will also be visiting the below towns: \n\n9 March – Oldbury\, Civic Square\n9 April – Cradley Heath\, Salvation Army\n14 April – Wednesbury Leisure Centre

DESCRIPTION:Are you an unpaid family Carer whose loved one is currently in hospital? \nIf you help someone because they couldn’t manage without you\, you are a Carer – even if you don’t view yourself as one. \nSandwell Carer Service can offer free confidential advice\, and support. \nSpeak one-to-one with an information and advice officer to find out how to register as an Unpaid Family Carer and what support is available for you. \nThis month\, it will be held at Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital\, on the 5th floor\, outside of the Patient Experience Office. It will be open to anyone from 1:30pm-3:00pm. \nFeel free to pop along\, share this with anyone it may help\, or attend one of the following sessions. They are held every second Wednesday\, rotating between Midlands Metropolitan and Sandwell Hospital.
